Warm, sunny days and distinctly cooler nights define its climate. The vineyards benefit from the mighty Alpine range surrounding them: fresh mountain air in the evening and cool downslope winds at night alternate with warm Mediterranean summer days and intense sunshine. Together, they create ideal conditions for expressive, fresh and elegant wines.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ww-text-subheading\">Elevation and diverse soils<\/h3>\n<p>Our vineyards lie at the heart of the winegrowing area of Alto Adige, around Tramin, Caldaro and the surrounding wine villages. They extend along the gentle hills of the Mendel ridge at elevations of 250 to 700 metres above sea level. Most occupy extremely steep slopes that call for manual work and careful hand harvesting. Many are in classic sites along the Alto Adige Wine Road, with pronounced differences between day and night temperatures. Others are considerably higher and cooler, allowing each grape variety to find its ideal conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The soils are as diverse as the elevations. Dolomite, with its limestone character, shapes a large part of the vineyards.
