Since 1869, the name Wilhelm Walch has stood for a story shaped by enterprise, family values and a deep connection with the wine culture of Alto Adige\u2014a culture it has also helped to shape.<\/p>\n<p>Our focus remains on expressing the distinctive character of Alto Adige, its indigenous grape varieties and the characterful vineyards around Tramin, Caldaro and the surrounding area. Selected international varieties complement the range. Our wines reflect uncompromising work on the steep vineyard slopes of the Dolomites and the highest level of expertise in the cellar.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ww-text-subheading\">From Vorarlberg to Tramin<\/h3>\n<p>The story begins with Wilhelm Walch, an an entrepreneur from Vorarlberg who already ran a distillery, a wine business and a restaurant. When opportunities for further expansion there proved limited, he decided to move with his family to nearby Alto Adige. In the renowned wine village of Tramin, he found a historic residence: a former Jesuit monastery with deep cellars. Here, a new chapter began for the family and for the estate as we know it today.<\/p>\n<p>With great energy, Wilhelm Walch and his sons developed the business, acquired vineyards in Tramin and Caldaro, and built relationships with local winegrowers. From these beginnings, following generations established one of the historic estates of Alto Adige.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"ww-text-subheading\">A tradition in its fifth generation<\/h3>\n<p>Today, Wilhelm Walch is run by the fifth generation of the family. The historic residence remains the heart of the estate. Carefully extended over the decades, it now hosts one of the region\u2019s most modern cellars. Alongside our own vineyards, longstanding partnerships with around 100 winegrowers from Alto Adige are an important part of our work.
